UNITY

Unity is not the goal ... being like Jesus is the goal.

FNCC promotes

  • Diversity not standardization

  • Empowerment not conformity

Unity on the other hand is actually a byproduct of humility. Unity is the emptying of Self. Phil.2:1-5

Unity is important to God and should be important to us. Remember, unity is saying "I will not be offended".
Galatians 2:2   A dead person is no longer offended by anyone. In God's economy the only way to live is to die.

Unity in itself is not the agenda. We talk about what unity looks like through the scriptures, but our focus must be on God alone.

When our focus is on God then we will be in unity. But if we make unity our focus, then our focus is on something other than God and that clouds our focus and drops our gaze from Him.

Friday Night Corpus Christi is a Praise, Worship and Prayer Celebration
whose purpose is to Worship God, pray for each other and our city, and to promote a greater understanding of unity in the Body of Christ.

The Heart of Jesus is evidenced by his high priestly prayer ...
John 17:20-21 "My prayer is not for them alone, I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me."

1. Unity is not an option, but it೴ill a choice.
The Apostle Paul admonished us to keep the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace. The UNITY is a given, the bond of peace in the only optional part. As we realize and walk in this; the following becomes more evident ...
John 13:35 龂y this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you love one another༢r>
2. Unity is a decision process - ෩ll not be offended쯢>
Hebrews 12:14,15 龍ake every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness, no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.Ⲿ
3. Unity is deciding, ෩ll say no word against you༯b>
Eph 4:29-32
Col 4:6

4. Unity is stating, ෩ll hear no word against you༯b>
Stop the cycle of gossip.

Rom 1:28-32   I Tim 5:19

5. Unity goes beyond cooperation; it is the 'emptying of self'.
Phil 2:1-8. "Now that you are united in Christ.. Let this attitude be in you."

6. Unity is seeing that it is His Kingdom, not my own.

"Therefore, we are praying for other parts of the body for the sake of His Kingdom.좲> I Cor 12:20, 24-27

7. Unity is a byproduct of humility; it desires to make others successful for His Kingdom.
Phil 2: 3-4

Friday Night Corpus Christi encourages:

튉 diversity rather than standardization
孰owerment not conformity.

HOUSE RULES:

Since we have a very narrow focus of coming together to worship God and pray for each other, our churches, and our city, as well as to promote a greater understanding of unity in the bond of peace,

WE ASK THAT YOU ...

튉 refrain from discussions of theology or doctrine

튉 acknowledge that we are all kingdom people here, there is no need to proselytize* (* defined by Merriam-Webster as: to induce someone to convert to one's faith).

NOTE: THIS IS A WORK-IN-PROGRESS! Any suggestions will be considered.
